It was a hot summer day in 2020 and Cree and I were preparing for a taco Tuesday with my best friends. It was back when we lived in the house he owned on 21st street and we kept the windows open for consistent air circulation.
I remember showering end sitting down to relax for a few moments before my friends arrived.
And the next moment I woke up was to an ambulance blaring and Cree instructing me into the vehicle. I was dizzy and didn’t understand why I was the patient in the situation. But I knew Cree was in his car, trailing tightly behind me.
I was told I had a seizure which if you could imagine is such a terrifying thing. All of this trauma and drama you can’t remember.
From being told, Cree calmly contacted my parents and family to Iet them know what happened. My mom and dad drove up immediately as I sat in the hospital trying to understand what was going on.
For me, I was impatient because being in the hospital for hours was not the taco Tuesday I had planned for and since you can’t physically remember having a seizure I felt the whole thing was a waste of my time. And for Cree, my then boyfriend and my best friends and family it was the day they knew and it was confirmed that I was absolutely in the best hands possible.
From that day forward, it was agreed that Cree would do anything and everything to make sure I was taken care of. Him remaining calm and showing up for me in the moment was transformative to me.
I’ve never met a better man. For six months while I was going to the doctor repeatedly, unable to drive due to a medically suspended license, and overall uncertainty of my health and safety— Cree watched me like a hawk, never complained, and always made sure I was comfortable.
One day I was spending time with my mom and she said to me, “that’s when we knew we were sure about Cree.”
The family dinners and heartfelt jokes only get so far in life. It’s about evidence of backing up your words that will solidify a lifetime of covenant.
And in that moment everyone was just as sure as me, that Cree was the one.
To this day, I get to live a low stress and secure life because that is the life Cree has created and promised for me.
Cree secures my insecurities and always thinks one step ahead of any uncertain possibilities.
